This week’s Elev8 at 8 was an amazing interview with Sven Glass. Sven Glass came on from his home base in Eugene Oregon, out on his back porch, liv’n the life! I really enjoyed everything that Sven Glass had to say. He has an amazing look on life and has a lot to teach all of us. How he expresses his creativity through music and glass. The start of Sven Glass was truly inspiring, with starting just skateboarding and being introduced to the glass scene. Sven Glass then moved to Eugene Oregan and joined a house full of glass blowers where he struck a lot of inspiration. Sven Glass has always been a musician so this creativity career path was no surprise. He goes on and say’s, “Surrounding yourself with people like who you want to be can really set you on the right path.”
He started by watching and learning. Each time getting better. Ginger Ela was a huge influence on his inspiration behind all of his flower work. Sven Glass explained the progression of Colors throughout the years, and now you can do so much more with the colors that are out there.
When Sven Glass goes into what went into the Tesla Coil piece, it was crazy to hear what went into it. I had no idea that he made the coil itself and then sculpted the glass around it. Outright amazing stuff. It is so cool how Sven Glass works with others to really push his limits and the friendships that are created along the way.
Super cool how Sven Glass wants to collaborate with others. He is super down to earth and open to any new ideas, which you can see in his work. Sven Glass really wants to expand as a person, always pushing himself to learn more and grow. I really can’t wait until Sven Glass competes in a competition like Champs or Glass Vegas. With Sven’s progression, there really are no limits to what this guy can do.
